IDA World Congress 2022 - ARCHIVED

To secure a sustainable future, we need to chart progress toward resilient processes, technologies, and communities. Desalination and Water Reuse provide resilient solutions to efficiently meet the growing demand for water, and threats to water security.  The IDA World Congress is a five-day event, a week for learning, sharing ideas, and developing your network to advance the solutions that will secure water for all. The IDA Innovation Forum, new to the World Congress, is specifically designed to introduce new and innovative solutions from Universities, Research Centers, Technology Developers, and start-up companies to major organizations in the water and energy sectors, venture capitalists, developers, and private companies investors.

Conference Panel

Join us for a panel discussion on Addressing Global Membrane System Safety Reliability. A Call to Action for Newer and Aging Installations
Moderator: Mr. Doug Eisberg, Vice President of Sales
Thursday, 13 October – 11.00 -13.00 – Location: Outback Theatre

The fact of the matter is that membrane pressure vessels (and their related flexible connections) throughout the desalination industry are reaching a critical period where tens of thousands may be reaching the end of life, while the plants they are installed in may continue operation for many years yet without issue. In early days of system development, it was recognized that FRP pressure vessels would not last indefinitely, but a reasonable service life was estimated to be in the order of 15 to 20 years given manufacturing approaches adopted by leading suppliers at that time. However now, many plants have had pressure vessels in service for 30 years or more. For those facilities whose pressure vessels are already exceeding the expected service life, guidance is required regarding an appropriate approach to replacement decision making given the consequences of operating under an increased risk of age-related failures. In addition, and more alarming, the industry has now had several vessel failure, not from age but from lack of proper maintenance.
