MTC21 Post Show Recap - ARCHIVED

The MTC21 Conference was held on July 19-22 at the Palm Beach County Convention Center in West Palm Beach FL. The conference was decided as a live event after it was cancelled last year due to the COVID pandemic.

COVID Protocols

Although it was a live event, safety protocols were still in place like mask-wearing – optional for people vaccinated and required for those who are not. Hand sanitizers were everywhere and all service staff is required to wear masks.

Attendees

There were a total of 560 Attendees and exhibitors in this year’s MTC. There were last-minute on-site registrations. It’s still a good mix of consultants, OEMs, operators, engineers, and end-users and despite the travel ban still in place in a lot of companies, attendees were from everywhere across the country and a few from overseas.

Exhibit Hall

Still wary about the COVID situation, we decided early in the planning process for MTC21, not to exhibit. There was a total of 49 exhibitors. I observed that there’s a lot of networking going on in the Exhibit Hall, it felt like it’s a reunion of sorts since the event was canceled last year.

Technical Program

Technical Program had a full schedule. For the most part, it’s been well attended. Avista gave two technical presentations, one during the pre-conference workshop and the other in the technical program.

Megan’s presentation on Water Quality was well-paced, well communicated, and she kept her energy high throughout. The content of the presentation was very relevant for the operators and engineers attending the session. You will find Megan’s presentation in the MTC21 Proceedings.

Nagham’s presentation on Solving One of the Biggest Challenges of Membrane Operation was well attended. The highlight of the session was the Q&A after where all the presenters took questions from the attendees. You know that there’s a lot of interest in Membrane operations when attendees stayed on past the allocated time for the Q&A. Many attendees noted that her presentation was very helpful because it broke down the info step by step. You will find Nagham’s presentation in the MTC21 Proceedings.

In summary

Not having a booth this year was a challenge to fully support our customers and partners. We maintained brand awareness in the conference with our lanyard sponsorship and program advertisement, social media presence, and email updates. We hope attendees found time with our experts Ken Robinson, Jason Bailey, Doug Eisberg, Megan Lee, and Nagham Najeeb and attended our talks! We look forward to a great exhibition at MTC22!
