AvistaClean MF/UF

AvistaClean™ MF/UF cleaners are designed for effective and economical removal of common fouling observed in microfiltration/ultrafiltration applications such as organic fouling, metal fouling and particulate fouling. These low-foaming, multicomponent cleaners work faster than common chemistries used onsite during Clean in Place (CIP) such as citric acid and caustic. They are buffered to ensure pH stability during cleaning and contain surfactants and chelants to suspend material in solution and prevent redeposition. The AvistaClean product line contains cleaners in a variety of pHs to remove a wide range of foulants in both liquid and powder forms. Most formulations are NSF approved*, making them suitable for drinking water treatment applications. *AvistaClean P1200 is not NSF approved.

Scale Inhibitors
Scaling within reverse osmosis (RO) systems is a serious matter. Not only does scaling drastically reduce system performance, but the abrasive scale deposits may also cause irreversible damage to the rejecting membrane surfaces.

Cleaning Spiral Wound Membranes
All reverse osmosis (RO) systems foul over time. Symptoms of fouling include a decrease in normalized permeate flow, an increase in salt passage, or an increase in differential pressure.

The Role of Coagulants in Reducing Colloidal Fouling
Micromedia filtration (MMF) is the most economical means of removing colloids from within reverse osmosis (RO) feedwater. However, to be effective, in-line coagulation is required upstream of the filters. With coagulation, colloid removal rates of 95% to 99% are typical.
