People traveling to the United States for a brief period are not required by law to have health insurance. However, the price of healthcare in the US is very high, so while medical insurance for visitors to the US is not mandatory, it is highly advisable.

Only a consultation with a doctor in the US can reach hundreds of dollars. If you have an accident and call an ambulance, the ambulance ride to the ER on its own can set you back thousands of dollars, not to mention the cost of medical treatment and hospitalization. If you do not have health insurance, you will have to cover all of the expenses yourself. And we are talking about bills that can reach tens of thousands of dollars, if not hundreds.

July 23rd-24th is a free weekend! To help you plan we have provided a list of fun things to see and do in the area.

San Diego Attractions – everything you need to know about America’s finest city.

Orange County Attractions – ranging from hiking to Disneyland, the county next to San Diego has a lot to offer and maybe worth planning for.

The City of Carlsbad – explore the city Avista calls home.

North County Beaches – a wide selection of beaches in Carlsbad and the neighboring towns. It’s the best time to explore our wonderful beaches.

Hiking Trails and Outdoor Activities in Carlsbad – Over the years, Carlsbad has maintained its vast, beautiful outdoor spaces so that they may be enjoyed by bikers, kayakers, fishers, birdwatchers and other guests. Home to an extensive trail system that ranges from leisurely to strenuous, you’ll find open hills, covered paths, expansive beaches and quiet lagoons that welcome you to savor the mild, ocean air.

Amtrak – there are two stations near the hotel, Carlsbad and Oceanside. There’s a shuttle run from the Cassara Hotel to the Carlsbad station. Please inquire with the hotel on shuttle schedules. Take this train to get to downtown San Diego or to Orange County.

Coaster Commuter Rail – The COASTER commuter train provides breathtaking coastal scenery as it runs north and south through San Diego County, serving eight stations between Oceanside and downtown San Diego. COASTER service provides thirty (30) daily trips Monday through Friday with an additional two (2) on Fridays, and twenty (20) daily Saturday and Sunday trips year-round. COASTER fares must be purchased for the number of zones you will be traveling in 1, 2 or 3 (See Fares for details). It takes about an hour to travel the entire COASTER route.

Uber or Lyft – ride share apps that you can download.

Rental Cars – please inquire with Cassara about rental car options. Enterprise Car Rental offers to pick you up at the hotel to take you to their car rental office in Carlsbad and bring you back to the hotel when you return the car.

It is mandatory to get tested for Covid prior to attending the Technical Champion Program every single day during the week.

PCR Covid testing is available at the hotel on Sunday, July 17th at the Cassara Hotel from 6:00 pm – 7:30 pm. Results is available after 15 minutes. Please email us if you are tested positive so we can make the necessary arrangements to access the training program while you recuperate. Should you fall ill, please contact the front desk so they can give you advice on what the next steps are.

You will be provided with Covid self-test kits throughout your stay. It is required that you take a self-test and know the results before boarding the bus to Loker. Please don’t board the bus and let us know if you have tested positive.

For those requiring to be tested before they head home, PCR testing will be provided at the Loker office on the last day of the program, Friday, July 29th. We will advise on the times.

It is not required to wear masks while in the Loker and Bosstick facilities, but surgical face masks will be available should you require one.

We will be providing travel size first aid kits to all participants. Should you need immediate care, please contact or go to any of the hospitals nearby the Cassara hotel:

  1. Scripps Coastal Medical Center Carlsbad
  2. Tri-City Medical Center

It is best to contact the hotel for assistance should there be an emergency.
