COASTER service provides thirty (30) daily trips Monday through Friday with an additional two (2) on Fridays, and twenty (20) daily Saturday and Sunday trips year-round. EQUIPMENT TO BRING

Bring a laptop, iPad, or tablet. If you do not have one available, please let us know.

TRAVEL INSURANCE

People traveling to the United States for a brief period are not required by law to have health insurance. However, the price of healthcare in the US is very high, so while medical insurance for visitors to the US is not mandatory, it is highly advisable.

Only a consultation with a doctor in the US can reach hundreds of dollars. If you have an accident and call an ambulance, the ambulance ride to the ER on its own can set you back thousands of dollars, not to mention the cost of medical treatment and hospitalization. If you do not have health insurance, you will have to cover all of the expenses yourself.

SUGGESTED ACTIVITIES

For those coming in early or staying over the weekend, there are many things to see and do in Carlsbad, and the surrounding area!

San Diego Attractions – everything you need to know about America’s finest city.

Orange County Attractions – ranging from hiking to Disneyland, the county next to San Diego has a lot to offer and maybe worth planning for.

The City of Carlsbad – explore the city Avista calls home.

North County Beaches – a wide selection of beaches in Carlsbad and the neighboring towns. It’s the best time to explore our wonderful beaches.

Padres Baseball – The Padres will be in town 18 – 24 September.

Hiking Trails and Outdoor Activities in or close to Carlsbad – Over the years, Carlsbad has maintained its vast, beautiful outdoor spaces so that they may be enjoyed by bikers, kayakers, fishers, birdwatchers and other guests. Home to an extensive trail system that ranges from leisurely to strenuous, you’ll find open hills, covered paths, expansive beaches and quiet lagoons that welcome you to savor the mild, ocean air.

Torrey Pines State Natural Reserve is a wilderness island in an urban sea. This fragile environment is the home of our nation’s rarest pine tree – Pinus torreyana. Once this tree covered a larger area. It now grows only here and on Santa Rosa Island off the coast near Santa Barbara. The park preserves not only the trees, but also one of the last salt marshes and waterfowl refuges in Southern California. The reserve features high broken cliffs and deep ravines on headlands overlooking the ocean. Hikers can follow trails through stands of wind-sculpted pines.

COVID TESTING

It is not mandatory to get tested for Covid prior to attending the training. However, if you are not feeling well and have flu-like symptoms (coughing, runny nose, fever, chills) during the week, please stay in your hotel room and let us know.

FACE MASKS

It is not required to wear masks while in the Loker and Bosstick facilities, but surgical face masks will be available should you require one.

FIRST AID

If you need immediate care, please contact or go to any of the hospitals nearby the Holiday Inn Carlsbad hotel:

  1. Scripps Coastal Medical Center Carlsbad
  2. Tri-City Medical Center

It is best to contact the hotel for assistance should there be an emergency.

There is a pharmacy, CVS, within walking distance of the hotel.
